Due to an NDA, I am unable to share my experience at Makelab with extensive detail or images. However, during my time at Makelab, I worked on a project involving workspace organization. I designed holders and organizers for tools available in the workspace using Fusion 360 and Solidworks.
The tools were thoroughly measured, and the holders were designed according to the measurements. Tolerances were considered to ensure the tools would be fitted. The design was ergonomic, and the tools could be grabbed with ease. Holes were made on the holders near the handle so that the fingers could reach and grab the tool with ease. Manufacturability was considered. For instance, the wall scraper holder which was too large for the printer, was printed in two parts with lap joints connecting them. Another consideration was design. Makelab's logo was extrude cutted on each holders and designs or patterns were created for some of the holders to be easily distinguishable and visually aesthetic.
