Due to NDA protection, I'm unable to share details/visuals of my work. My internship was also cut short as the company dissolved and ceased operations. During my time at the company, I worked through the design release process, product data management, and the systems-level organization of the product.
I worked under the instruments team to review the work instructions and standard operating procedures to identify ambiguities and seek improvement. I worked alongside technicians within the production line to gather feedback. I discovered several steps and visuals that could create ambiguity for the technicians. I added part numbers for each component and jig being used to prevent misinterpretation. I also noticed certain jigs did not fit on the arbor press and had high friction when placing them on the instrument component. I adjusted tolerances and the overall dimensions to increase the ergonomics and efficiency of the jig. I reprinted the jig using an FDM 3D printer. There was a noticeable difference in cycle time for the process after the adjustment.
